A queue of lorries with the words "NO DEAL BREXIT - NO THANKS".

Documents on food and medicine shortages in the event of a ‘No Deal’ Brexit should be kept secret to avoid scaring public says a government Minister.

Parliament recently ordered the release of the Operation Yellowhammer dossier, yet Business Secretary, Andrea Leadsom, has indicated the Tory Party Criminal Gang Mafia will defy the law. She has given the lame excuse it would scare the public.

She need not worry, if the public can handle the fact this frightful old bag has a senior position in the government and BoJo the Clown is Prime Minister, then we’re a sturdy bunch.

Also, not all of us are stupid and can plainly see the real reason that she doesn’t want the public to see the government’s own documents is that they are true and genuinely scary.

The prospect of food shortage and medicine shortages in a first world country should scare any sane person. Of course, these warnings are not new, people warned before the referendum, but it was labelled as project fear. Respected medical professionals and industry leaders have repeatedly warned of the dangers of ‘No Deal’. Now again, the government’s own advisors have come to the same conclusion.

It’s not the first time this government has tried to stop the public from seeing their own commissioned reports relating to Brexit. In 2018, official government forecasts predicted the UK would be significantly worse off under all possible Brexit scenarios in 15 years’ time, according to a benchmark economic analysis produced by a range of government departments including the Treasury.

Again, the government refused to release these documents and even resisted after they were told to do so by Parliament. Then Brexit Secretary David ‘thick as mince’ Davis was summoned before the Brexit committee over refusal to release full impact dossier.

Treating Parliament with contempt

He was accused of treating Parliament with contempt and attempting to reduce its sovereignty after withholding information about the economic impact of Brexit from MPs.

Ultimately, the documents found their way into the public eye and they too warned of food shortages and medical supplies.

To be fair, it doesn’t take a great deal of knowledge of economics to know that ripping up your trade deals with the rest of the world, which we already have as members of the EU and losing tariff-free access to the world’s largest trading bloc could present a monumental clusterfuck.

Leadsom argues that it is better if the public is left in the dark about such things. With a general election looming, I can’t for the life of me think why the Conservatives don’t want the electorate to see advice from the Civil Service suggesting Brexit will lead to food, fuel and medical shortages.

By law, the government has until 11 pm tonight to reveal these documents to comply with Parliament’s instruction to release the Yellowhammer documents. Whether they will, remains to be seen as it’s quite clear the Tories believe themselves to be above the law.

They’ll find their way into the public arena anyway, they always do, but the fact the government is trying their utmost to stop us seeing them indicate they make for a grisly read.

They almost certainly confirm what many of us already know, it will cause chaos at Britain’s ports and borders. A leak involving the documents last month suggested the UK will face shortages of medicine, food and fuel if on 31 October it leaves the EU without a deal.

Not forgetting the fact that virtually every medical professional, business leader and credible academic, as well as heads of foreign governments,  have said the same.

Andrea Leadsom insults the nation’s intelligence

Leadsom’s suggestion the documents should not be released because they will scare people is not only insulting to the nation’s intelligence, it is a clear violation of the law. Parliament has ordered the government to release the documents, so they’d better bloody well do so! Who the hell do they think they are that they can break the law by keeping secret politically damaging documents that could hurt their chances of winning the forthcoming general election?

This is not the only lawbreaking by the Tory Party Criminal Gang Mafia in the headlines today. Appeal court judges in Scotland have declared Boris Johnson’s decision to suspend parliament in the run-up to the October Brexit deadline as unlawful.

I asked Dr Mike Galsworthy from the pro-EU lobby group, Scientists for EU about the consequences of a ‘No Deal’ Brexit.

“When it comes to medicines they say trust us but they haven’t tested the systems they’re asking us to trust.

“Remember the ferry contract to transport medicines that turned out to be an inexperienced company, the plug was pulled on that and it cost the taxpayer more than £80 million.

“So, when they say trust us, I know I certainly don’t,” said Dr Galsworthy.

Helen Alipaz, from Totnes, Devon, whose teenage son is a Type 1 Diabetic who requires daily life-saving insulin medication is deeply concerned about the implications of a ‘No Deal’ Brexit. Her son started a petition calling on the government to stop ‘No Deal’ Brexit to prevent the suffering of those on life-saving daily medication.

Helen said: “Type 1 Diabetics rely on daily doses of insulin in order to keep their blood sugar at a safe level. Any interruption to the necessary dose is life-threatening after even a short period. It can cause life-changing effects like kidney failure, heart failure, diabetic ketoacidosis or even ultimately, coma and death.

“There are many other medical conditions that may also be affected by a ‘No Deal’ Brexit and the worry amongst those already unwell people is widespread and unnecessary. No solid guarantees have been made to ensure this threat is being seriously addressed,” said Helen Alipaz.
